The John Porter Tradition of Excellence Book Award, originally named the The John Porter Memorial Book Prize, was created in 1980 by the Canadian Sociology and Anthropology Association in memory of John Porter for the purpose of recognizing outstanding published scholarly contributions within the "John Porter Tradition" to the advancement of sociological knowledge in Canada. Porter, who died in 1979, was arguably the dominant Canadian sociologist of the post World War Two period.
Now known as the Canadian Sociological Association, we invite our members and publishers to submit nominations from October 1, 2019 through January 15, 2020.
This online form has been created to facilitate the nomination submission process. The information submitted in this form will be used by the Chair of the John Porter Book Award Committee to verify the nomination's eligibility. If eligible, you will be provided with the information required to send copies of the book to each of the committee members for adjudication.
